刘皓冰教授长期致力于交通、能源与大气环境的交叉研究领域。发表SCI检索论文30篇,并在交通能源、环境分析与路侧空气质量相关研究获美国交通部、能源部和环保署资助项目11项,其中主持8项。2020年以该研究方向入选中组部国家海外高层次青年人才计划。任Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment (SCI检索JCR一区期刊)编委委员,美国TRB交通学会-空气质量和温室气体减排委员会委员

刘皓冰教授团队注重理论联系实践,所开发的交通环境分析系统已被业界广泛使用:主持开发的高性能机动车排放建模系统MOVES-Matrix已被来自美国、英国和新加坡等数十所高校、研究院和企业应用于大型交通网络排放建模。刘教授主持的机动车匝道行驶工况和排放特征研究成果已被美国环保署采纳,用于改进其官方排放系统MOVES。刘教授主持开发的GTA (GIS-To-AERMOD) “交通地理信息-排放扩散”一体化系统,也将于2022年由美国联邦公路局(FHWA)官方发布。
